3 Fashion Trends I Avoid

Seems like once you tell someone you blog, they just assume you’re a fashion blogger. I’m not a fashion blogger, as much as I love fashion I have no desire to be a fashion blogger. And to be completely honest with you I wouldn’t be a very good fashion blogger, I’m a repeat offender when it comes to fashion. If I like something I will wear it to death.

I’ve noticed a few times that I’ve been shopping I’ve come back with my money in my wallet and not not really buying anything I’m in love with. When I go shopping I have some fashions I avoid which make my trips to the mall not so pleasant these days

Corkscrew – I already told you I’m a repeat offender when it comes to fashion, with shoes it's worse. It's like this even if I been wearing this 1 outfit with a particular pair of shoes once I have a new pair I want to test out the outfit with the new shoes see if they go.  Here’s my problem with cork it doesn’t matter if you pay good money for a pair of shoes with cork if you wear it too much it will show.  The more you wear the shoes, the cork part turn back and worn down.

Sundresses- I love sundresses but what I don’t like is the sundresses that show all your goodies. I’m 38FF so with me a simple sundress becomes provocative. It’s extremely hard to find a sundress that not cut low so I just stopped trying. I sometime wish their was a way I could keep my 38FF and switch out to a 34B when I want for fashion & working out.

Dry Clean Only- I got enough going on, the last thing I need is another task or chore. And really even if I drop it off said items at the cleaners it will be a while before I remember to pick up. If I buy something that’s dry clean only I cant just like the item, I have to be in LOVE the item.

Tell me, what fashions do you avoid when you’re shopping?

With summer fastly approaching everyone is trying to get that "GLO" and it's all about the "GLO UP". A must have for my summer glow is dry body oils! A couple of squirts and you have instant glow! Fast absorbing, non-sticky glow too! Don't get caught slipping! Literally! Watch where you spray this stuff, if on tile things can get slippery. I learned the hard way! I give this product 5 out of 5 Afro puffs on my BGF (brown girl friendly) scale.

My go to pallet for the summer is from Anastasia Beverly Hills; Artist Palette. Feel like an instant makeup artist with the palette that can take you into day or night, and packed with neutrals and colors! This product is definitely BGF with mattes and shimmers that are pigmented on any shade of brown! With a reasonable price tag of $30 you'll easily get all your coins worth out of this one.
4 out of 5 Afro puffs for Anastasia! Ladies the hype is real.

So this month I added something to my makeup regimen and it has changed the game up for me. Cover FX Custom Cover Drops! So check me out, you can take your favorite moisturizer, primer, and 3 drops of these and BAM! You've just created your own custom foundation! The science behind it is that these drops are pure pigment and are designed to allow you to customize the level of coverage you want to achieve. I'm a full beat, all day kind of girl so I add it to my existing foundation (Revlon Colorstay; we'll delve into them another time) for flawless finish! With 25 shades in the range, I give it 4 out of 5 Afro puffs on the BGF scale. It's missing one puff because you do go through that moment of what is a good mix for me? Once you figure it out though, it's all flawless from there. Below are a couple of my mixes that work for me!

Revlon Colorstay Cappuccino + 3 drops = Full coverage

Neutrogena Hydroboost Moisturizer + Becca Ever Matte Poreless Primer + 2 drops = Tinted Moisturizer

Coola Classic Sunscreen Moisturizer SPF 30 + Tarte Clean Slate Poreless Primer + 2 drops = Workout/FL sun ready tinted moisturizer/sunscreen

My favorite brush sets have to be Sonia Kashuk for Target! Her latest collection "Art of Beauty" is a wonderful set that comes fully equipped with all your brushes to accentuate, blend and contour. Not to mention they are so pretty! 5 out of 5 Afro puffs!

For months I've been trying to perfect my winged eyeliner and it's been fail after fail. But I finally got it down pact with this product here, NYX Matte Black Liquid Liner! It has the ideal brush for winged liner and dries down matte for all day wear! 5 out of 5 Afro puffs!

My last favorite is for the foodies out there. Living so close to a Trader Joes has made me a mix up queen! I'm always finding combinations that just go together. One of the things that go together at Trader Joes is the "Fig & Olive crisps" and the "Crottin Goat Cheese Trio". This right here is the truth! I think I'll start a series of things that go together on the blog. Tell me what you think in the comments below! See you next month!

Who Wants Healthier, Clearer Skin?

So ever since I could remember my skin has been oily and then with an onset of hormones came acne! As a child my mom would march right up to the Fashion Fair counter with me in tow and get us the best toners and powderpuffs to combat my skin problems. Later down the line we were at doctors offices where I had to endure shots in my cheeks and chemical peels. I was once even prescribed the popular end all to acne Accutane. A birth control with severe side effects such as suicidal thoughts. My mom wasn't having it! So I just forged on with my frequent and expensive trips to the Mac counters and bought any acne drug that didn't promise to kill me.

Here we are at the Jordan year (23) of my life and I finally can look in the mirror with confidence about my skin! A few products that changed my life!

1. Shea Moisture African Black Soap Problem Skin Toner

MATTE! That's all I have to say about this product. I have never used a toner that changed the texture of my skin and the appearance. The Glycerin in this toner helps to keep my oil levels at bay with a matte finish. The black soap extract clears up any blemishes I have and is backed up by tea tree oil that also kills bacteria that causes blemishes. I use twice a day in my morning and night routine. I also use it to set my makeup for the day and love that it comes in a spray bottle for easy use!

2. Bio-Oil

An oldie but a goodie! Typically used for scars and stretch marks this oil is packed with vitamins A & E to help heal scars. After 3 weeks of incorporating this oil into my night time routine I noticed a significant differences in all my old acne scars. They were gone! And I was left with smoother, hydrated skin.

3. Tea Tree Oil

Wherever and how ever I can get it! Any products that has tea tree oil as an ingredient is usually stocked in my cabinets. This essential oil kills bacteria on contact so it's the perfect all natural spot treatment for zits! Below are links to all my favorite tea tree packed products.
